Snehwan USA Inc has applied to the IRS for recognition of exemption under section 501(c)(3). Our application is pending. We acknowledge every gift in writing.

Why monthly matters more than you would think

A school year is not a one-time expense. When you commit $50 a month, we can promise a child a full academic year in September instead of hoping the money arrives in March. A predictable income is what will let us commit to a grant for a full school year.

We will acknowledge every gift in writing. There is no minimum term and nobody will call you.

$100 a month

About what it costs Snehwan to keep one child in residence for a month: a bed, three meals a day, school fees, uniforms, books and evening tutoring. Your gift supports the whole programme rather than an individual child.

$25 a month

About the cost of school supplies and uniforms for a child for a year — often the exact reason a family withdraws a child from school.

Routes that open when our exemption is recognised

Gifts from donor-advised funds, employer matching programmes, and gifts of appreciated securities all depend on the IRS recognising our exemption, and matching platforms additionally require us to appear in the IRS Business Master File. None of that is in place yet. If you would like to give by one of those routes, write to [email protected] and we will tell you as soon as it becomes possible.

Does Snehwan USA control how the money is used?

Yes. Snehwan USA Inc retains full legal control of, and discretion over, every contribution it receives. Our board approves each grant on its own judgement, and may decline, defer, reduce or attach conditions to any of them. Grants to Snehwan are made under a written agreement, will be received into Snehwan’s designated FCRA account, and Snehwan will report to us on how the funds were used. You may tell us which part of the work you care about and we will give that serious weight, but the decision remains ours — which is what allows us to make grants abroad at all.

Snehwan USA Inc has applied to the IRS for recognition of exemption under section 501(c)(3). Our application is pending. If it is approved, contributions may be deductible retroactive to our incorporation date, 3 September 2026, to the extent allowed by law. We will send a written acknowledgment for every gift.

How we acknowledge your gift

A director writes to you by hand. The acknowledgment carries our legal name, our EIN, the date and the amount, and the statement that no goods or services were provided in exchange. Please include your email address with your cheque, or in the Zelle memo, so that we can reach you.

Questions donors actually ask

Snehwan USA grants funds to Snehwan India under a written grant agreement that requires quarterly narrative and financial reporting. Because the transfer is a foreign contribution under Indian law, it is received into Snehwan India’s designated FCRA account at the State Bank of India, New Delhi Main Branch, and reported in the annual FC-4 return to the Ministry of Home Affairs. Snehwan India holds FCRA registration no. 083930758.

You can, but we would rather you did not. Unrestricted gifts let us move money to wherever a child needs it in a given month, and restricted funds sometimes sit unspent while an unrelated need goes unmet. If you do want to restrict, note the project when you give and we will honor it.

Card processing costs 2.9% plus 30 cents. You can choose to cover it at checkout, which most donors do. Bank transfer and wire have no processing fee, and for gifts above $5,000 that is the route we suggest.

No. We do not sell, rent, trade, or share donor data with any other organization for any purpose. California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas and Utah residents have specific rights over their data; see the privacy notice and the do not sell or share page.
